Painted Polish Chasing Rainbows

I am not sure that after using Painted Polish's crellies I really want to try another brand. Something about her formula just glides on without having to really manipulate the glitters.

I did three coats of Chasing Rainbows to really pack on the glitter and make sure the white was opaque. The red and blue glitters stuck out the most to me so I wanted to incorporate those colors into my nail art. I used UberChic's 3-03 plate for the stamp with Opi's Quarter of a Cent-Cherry. I will say that the red came out more pink when it was stamped but that's ok. The jewels are from a set I got off of Amazon from Cheeky years ago. I did use a little nail glue to make sure they really stuck before I used Hk Girl top coat to finish my nails off.

Glam Polish's I Want To Play A Game

Glam Polish decided to release a ton of new limited edition halloween colors this past week. Unfortunately they were small batches so once they were sold out that was it, no more. I missed out on one shade I was wanting but I was able to get all the other colors I was hoping to get. Now although they are halloween polishes I am just not quite ready for halloween nail art. So to show off this stunning blue I decided to pair it with a galaxy look. I thought it would make the perfect background for a space look.

The most amazing part of this polish is the iridescent flakies that are in it. They almost look like opal does, when you look at it one way its one color and then you change the angle the color changes. I will say that they are a bit of a pain to get out the bottle and on to your nail, but once on they are just amazing. I did three coats of the polish to make sure that I got the most flakies I could. You could honestly probably only get away with two coats but I am a bit extra.

For the galaxy nails I thought it was only fitting to pull back out my Glitter Daze Space Candy collection. I ripped up a cosmetic sponge into the smallest pieces possible to keep from making the colors spread too much. I sponged down a white first, Kb Shimmer's Eyes White Open, to help ensure that all the pastel colors would show as bright as possible. For the colors I just went back and forth with Intergalactic Sprinkles, Cosmic Cake, and Lunar Cravings until I had the look I was going for. I did take some more of that white and with a brush dabbed on some stars. Once all the layers of polish had dried I went in with my usual coat of Hk girl top coat. Glam Polish is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites brands for those jam packed glitter polishes. You will definitely be seeing more from their halloween collection in my few next upcoming posts, so keep an eye out for them.

Making A Splash

This stunner of a polish is called Making A Splash by Glam Polish. It is a limited edition polish that you can only purchase if you are a member of their Facebook fan group. It is a tealish color with a jelly formula that is packed full of flakies and silver microglitters.

Now because of the jelly like formula it did take me three coats to get it as opaque as I wanted but you could technically get away with two I just am a bit OCD about my polish.

To accent the polish I thought the perfect stamping image was this wave one from Bundle Monster. I stamped it using BM-504 and Mundo de Unas White.

To finish my nails off with a shiny top coat, I of coarse pulled out my tried and true Hk Girl from Glisten and Glow. I don't think I ever even bother with another top coat anymore.

Makeup Geek Foiled Shadows Swatches

 I know that this is a nail blog but I wanted to do something a little different. I love makeup almost as much as I love nail polish. As soon as I saw that Makeup Geek was coming out with new foiled eye shadows I knew it was time for me to bite the bullet and get them. I have seen a ton of reviews about their first set of them and how amazing they are. This new set is just as stunning. I did take individual shots of each shadow but unfortunately the lighting was just crap. I do apologize for not having close ups of each color.

The formula on these shadows is quite unique. They are a powder, but due to them having more oil they have a cream feel to them. If you have oily lids I would strongly recommend a primer to help prevent creasing. 

You can purchase all 20 shadows as a set like I did or individually. If you get them as a set it does save you a bit of money which is always a good thing. You can find their products here.

Can I Get An Untz Untz

Last neon glitter from China Glaze's new Electric Nights collection is Can I get an untz untz. The name is atrocious but the glitter is amazing. Just like the other glitters in the collection this works best over a white base. Although it does show up over other colors, it tends to not show all the colored flecks unless over white. I chose not to sponge this one on and just the brush with the bottle. You can see from the photos that you do get a pretty good glitter payoff from just using the brush but if you use a makeup sponge you don't get that buildup from the clear base nearly as bad.

I decided to use some of the other colors from the collection for my accent nail.I do like how well these colors go together. I have found with some collections the colors wind up being inharmonious, so it's nice to see one where they stand alone and together beautifully. The plate, Bp-31 is from Born Pretty Store. I used Mundo de unas black to stamp and filled it in with China Glaze's Daisy know my name, home sweet house music, violet-vibes, treble maker, glow with the flow, and dj blue my name. My white base is two coats of Orly dayglow.I did only use one coat of seche vite for my top coat but you may want to use two as it is a bit of a top coat eater.

Sally Hansen Velvet Collection Swatches

I knew as soon as I saw that Sally Hansen was coming out with a velvet line that I had to get my hands on them. I dislike most texture polishes. They tend to be too gritty, even with some chunky glitters I have to use multiple layers of top coat. The velvet polishes are just slightly textured.

First up is Lush. It's a darker taupe color. It reminds me of Opi's I Sao Paulo Over There. This is two coats with no top coat.

Velour is this gorgeous purple color with a blue undertone. I actually don't have a color in my collection similar. This is two coats with no top coat.

Plush is a slightly darker aquamarine color. This looks like Essie's In The Cabana. This is two coats with no top coat.

Velveteen is your typical black. This one actually had the best formula out of all of them. This is two coats with no top coat.

I wanted to try out stamping over top to see how well it would do. The stamping actually turned out great. The slight texture gave something for the image to grip to.

Overall I think that these are a great concept but they just do not last. I didn't expect them to stay on for a long time but they barely made it an hour before chipping. I figured maybe they would last a day or so. These would be great for special occasions where you don't plan to have the polish on for long. I am thinking of returning them. For the price of $5.99 each I just don't see me using them. You could always top coat to help last but then you lose the point of the texture.

Stardust Blush Swatch

 

I have no idea what took me so long to try out FingerPaints polish but I am a total addict now. My local Sally's had a ton of different colors in their clearance bin so I figured I would give them a try and "Wow!" Stardust blush is this beautiful glitter polish that has fine light pink microglitters along with hot pink round glitter. I had the hardest time getting my camera to get an accurate photo. You can somewhat see the gold reflect this polish gives off. I will say that I used a coat of gellous and a coat of seche vite and you can still feel the glitter texture. I do prefer a smoother glitter because then you are less likely to snag it on something but the color makes it worth it. Two coats got me to the opacity I wanted.
