Painted Polish's Rainbow Reef

As soon as I got the email about UberChic's new mermaid plate I just had to order it. Once it came in the mail it was even more stunning in person. What could possibly pair better with a mermaid stamping plate other then Painted Polish's At Sea Volume II collection?!? I did only use 4 of the colors out of the collection but the entire set is fantastic. Lexi makes some of my favorite crelly polishes hands down. They just never disappoint. Rainbow Reef is no exception. I don't have to fuss with the glitters to get them to apply at a certain place or lay down flat.

To start off my nails I laid down a base coat of FingerPaints sticky base coat. I really like this base coat when it comes to applying anything with glitter because it gives them something nice to stick to. Although you can only use two coats of Rainbow Reef I did go ahead and do three just because I like to have as much glitter on  my nails as possible. Once dry I did apply a thin layer of Out the Door top coat on my two middle nails so that I had an extra layer of protection for stamping.

I took Painted Polish's Boating In Blue Jeans and stamped on the mermaid scale image in to my squishy stamper. While that was drying I used the same polish and the vitamin sea image and stamped it on to my ring finger. After a thin layer of OTD top coat again over the scales I filled in some of the gaps with Painted Polish's Stoned On Sapphire and Siren Seduction for extra glittery goodness. The top coat I had applied down allows me to make it more like a decal so when I am applying it to my nails I can just take it off the stamper with tweezers and line it up on my nail where I want it. A quick trim with scissors and some clean up and all that was left to do was apply my favorite top coat of HK Girl by Glisten and Glow. I will say between the glitters on my middle nail and the ones in the white crelly base I did need to do two layers of top coat just to make sure that it was completely smooth.

Coral and Mermaids

I broke my pointer finger so I ended up trimming down all my nails but I actually like the look a bit better than when they are really long. I absolutely love how this turned out. I knew I wanted to watermarble ocean currents but I was a bit nervous. I am still not the best at the technique and my middle finger did end up smearing but that's what stamping is for.

I used China Glaze's uv meant to be, dj blue my mind, and Color Club's meet me at the rink for the watermarble background. I did have two coats of Opi's alpine snow down as a base. The bubbles are from bm 505 with Mundo de Unas white. I didn't stamp the bubbles on my middle finger because I knew you wouldn't see them so I went straight in with Opi's cajun shrimp and bm-501 for the coral. The mermaid is Mo-You London Sailor 01 with Mundo de Unas black. Due to having to shrink the image it is a bit smudged. She reminds me of Ariel from the little mermaid when she is singing part of your world.

As always you want to use a good top coat to help prolong your design. My favorite is seche vite. You can get a bit of shrinkage with it so you want to make sure you wrap your tips.

Neon Mermaid

I decided to take my gradient mani from my Poptastic collection post and add to it. I had first seen this collection on +ohmygoshpolish page on Instagram so it iwas only fitting that I tried to recreate her beautiful mermaid inspired mani. I went in with Opi's alpine snow and Gal Cosmetics plate GA14 to stamp on the scales. Instead of Inm Northern lights in gold I used the silver that I had for a subtle sparkle.

Blurple

My younger brother's high school graduation was Saturday. I now feel so old :-( I saw this beautiful eye makeup look on Instagram done by _tiarni_ You should definitely check her out. She does AMAZING looks. Her photo reminded me of this mermaid type look so I figured I had to try it. I didn't have the products she did so mine came out a bit different. Overall I was very happy. I think it really made my blue eyes pop. I used colors from my Sigma Creme de Couture palette, Lorac Pro palette, and my Morphe brushes palette I made myself from their single shadows. Eyeliner is Maybelline eye studio in black. I had just picked up the lashes from Wal-mart the day before. They are Salon Perfect in #109. They were a dream to apply. First attempt and they were on. I highly recommend them to anyone who has been having trouble applying falsies.

Isn't he handsome??
