Neon Florals

I wanted to do something using my new Color Club Poptastic collection that I had got in the mail. I have been loving all the floral manis I have been seeing on Instagram so I thought I would give it a go. I started out with a base coat of Gelous before painting on two coats of China Glaze’s Lotus Begin.For the floral designs I used Color Club’s Electro Candy, Warhol, Wham! Pow!, Psychedelic Scene, Twiggie, Pucci-licious, China Glaze in both White on White and Lotus Begin. I finished everything off with a coat of Glisten & Glo HK Girl Topcoat.

May The Fourth Be With You

Day #2 of the May monthly challenge is Star Wars. I had the hardest time deciding what to do because I didn't want to do the usual storm troopers or Vader nails. I had decided on Boba Fett when my husband suggested I add in Jango Fett. I had a lot of fun doing these nails. I am in love with my Boba Fett helmet. I started out with my usual basecoat of Orly Bonder and added two coats each of Station Weed out the Wimps and China Glaze Recycle. I used acrylic paints to add in all the details. I didn't have the exact colors I needed so I mixed several ones together. I have a photo below showing all the ones I used. Lastly I finished everything off with Glisten & Glow H K Girl Topcoat to seal in my designs.

Day 1 of Instagram May Challenge

I absolutely love the Nail Art Challenges that Californails always comes up with for Instagram. I attempted to do April's last month but with the birth of my new little one I kind of got off track. So for May I am determined to finish the entire challenge.

Up first for the month is May flowers. I decided to do something a little more abstract then doing an exact type of flower. Overall I feel like I am doing much better at adding layers and details. I started out as usual with my Orly's Bonder basecoat before adding on two coats of OPI's Don't Bossa Nova Me Around and sealing with Glisten & Glow HK Girl TopCoat. I used a variety of different acrylic paints to add the flowers and details. Once dry I went in with another coat of Glisten & Glow to seal in my design.

I would love to know if any one else is doing this challenge. I can't wait to see everyone's posts on Instagram.

Chevron Tutorial with Nail Vinyls

I recently ordered a set of the chevrons from Nail Vinyls and I could not wait to try them out. I did have a problem with the first time I used on my nail. I am not sure if it was user error or possibly an issue with my base coat and color. I started out using Orly's Bonder Basecoat before adding on two coats of Color Club's Eternal Beauty which is this gorgeous purple holo polish.

Next I used tweezers to apply two of the vinyls to my ring finger.

I went in with Sally Hansen's Instadry in Grape Race with one thick coat and while the polish was still wet I removed the strips.

This was the results of my first attempt.

I next went on to my thumb and had much better results.I redid my ring finger after finishing my right hand. Once the polish was dry I went in with a generous coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl Topcoat to seal in my design. Overall I am really happy with how these came out. I like the subtle color variation between the holo polish and the grape race. I still need more practice with the vinyls but I think for my first try they came out pretty good.
