Simple Baby Shower Nails

Yesterday one of my best friends for forever had her baby shower. I can not wait for her little girl to make her grand appearance, but until then I'll just have to paint my nails for her. I wanted something simple to wear instead of my usual bright in your face nails. I  love this color from Orly, it is quite possibly one of my favorites from them. It goes on smooth and only takes two coats. I also broke out my tried and true glistening snow for my accent nail. I had forgotten how sparkly and twinkly it is.

Three coats of China Glaze glistening snow

Sally Hansen Velvet Collection Swatches

I knew as soon as I saw that Sally Hansen was coming out with a velvet line that I had to get my hands on them. I dislike most texture polishes. They tend to be too gritty, even with some chunky glitters I have to use multiple layers of top coat. The velvet polishes are just slightly textured.
First up is Lush. It's a darker taupe color. It reminds me of Opi's I Sao Paulo Over There. This is two coats with no top coat.

Velour is this gorgeous purple color with a blue undertone. I actually don't have a color in my collection similar. This is two coats with no top coat.

Plush is a slightly darker aquamarine color. This looks like Essie's In The Cabana. This is two coats with no top coat.

Velveteen is your typical black. This one actually had the best formula out of all of them. This is two coats with no top coat.

I wanted to try out stamping over top to see how well it would do. The stamping actually turned out great. The slight texture gave something for the image to grip to.

Overall I think that these are a great concept but they just do not last. I didn't expect them to stay on for a long time but they barely made it an hour before chipping. I figured maybe they would last a day or so. These would be great for special occasions where you don't plan to have the polish on for long. I am thinking of returning them. For the price of $5.99 each I just don't see me using them. You could always top coat to help last but then you lose the point of the texture.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

A TNPC Inspired Skittle

The wonderfully talented Kelli from The Nail Polish Challenge posted this amazing look in the past few days and I knew I just had to try it. I didn't want to copy her exactly so I changed it up to make it my own. Her look that I drew inspiration from is this chevron mani. I went with one glitter accent nail and two solid colored ones instead.
Sadly I am still learning to use the nail vinyls without flooding my cuticles. Somehow I am happier with how my right hand came out then my left. Go figure!
I feel like the chevrons are crisper on this hand. I am looking for a new tripod so taking good photos of my right hand are a bit tricky at the moment.

Polishes used: Duri rejuvacote, Sally Hansen Insta-dri Presto Pink, Color Club Pucci-licious, and Orly Silver Pixel
Chevron Vinyls:Linda at Nail Vinyls
Top Coat: Inm Out the Door
Hope you are having a wonderful day

Chevron Tutorial with Nail Vinyls

I recently ordered a set of the chevrons from Nail Vinyls and I could not wait to try them out. I did have a problem with the first time I used on my nail. I am not sure if it was user error or possibly an issue with my base coat and color. I started out using Orly's Bonder Basecoat before adding on two coats of Color Club's Eternal Beauty which is this gorgeous purple holo polish.

Next I used tweezers to apply two of the vinyls to my ring finger.
I went in with Sally Hansen's Instadry in Grape Race with one thick coat and while the polish was still wet I removed the strips.

This was the results of my first attempt.

I next went on to my thumb and had much better results.I redid my ring finger after finishing my right hand. Once the polish was dry I went in with a generous coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl Topcoat to seal in my design. Overall I am really happy with how these came out. I like the subtle color variation between the holo polish and the grape race. I still need more practice with the vinyls but I think for my first try they came out pretty good.

All the polishes I used.
